Celebrating Women’s History Month
In celebration of Women’s History Month, Signature Books is excited to share two new releases and host two events highlighting women’s achievements. McArthur Krishna and Anne Pimentel’s Changemakers: Women Who Boldly Built Zion features thirteen women who used their strengths, challenges, and talents to bring about positive change not only within the Latter-day Saint faith community, but the world.
Some of the names you may recognize: Emma Hale Smith, Ardeth Kapp, and Melissa Wei-Tsing Inouye. Others are less known, yet just as powerful, showing how anyone can use their voice to bring about change within our circles of influence. Women at Church author Neylan McBaine said of the book, “In the punchy and powerful style of Krishna’s Girls Who Choose God books, Changemakers offers inspiring stories of women who took action to make the church—and the world—a more welcoming, warm, and energetic place. And the book is absolutely gorgeous! The rich textures and comforting colors pay tribute to these stories from remarkable women around the world.”
Changemakers officially releases on March 20, but you can pick up a copy—and have the authors sign it!—two weeks early on March 6 at Signature Books, when Krishna and Pimentel will speak (details below). You can also preorder from your favorite bookstore, at Bookshop.org, and other online booksellers.
Signature will host a second celebration of Women’s History Month on March 20, with Fifty Years of Exponent II coauthors Katie Ludlow Rich and Heather Sundahl in conversation with Exponent II founding mother Judy Dushku. They will cover Dushku’s global activism and her humanitarian work in Uganda that inspired her debut novel, Is This the Way Home?, recently published by our friends at BCC Press (details below).
Rounding out our Women’s History Month offerings is Signature’s just-released audiobook, Dictates of Conscience: From Mormon High Priest to My New Life as a Woman, read by the author of this poignant new memoir, Laurie Lee Hall.
Remembering Eduardo Balderas
Did you know that the first full-time translator employed by the LDS Church was an immigrant? Learn more about Balderas, and his far-reaching impact on the church, on March 19 at Signature Books, when Dr. Ignacio Garcia will speak about his new biography, Eduardo Balderas: Father of Church Translation, 1907–1989 (details below).
