“Dad, your finger is bleeding.”
“Yes, the bullet went by my head and clipped my finger.”
So Jody England Hansen recounts how her father, Eugene England, was nicked by a would-be assassin’s bullet moments after meeting Pope John Paul II. Hansen’s essay is just one of forty-six contributions from people who were influenced by Gene, including Lavina Fielding Anderson, Claudia and Richard Bushman, Susan Gong, Thomas Griffith, Patrick Mason, Tom Rogers, and Rosalynde Welch. Many know England as a leading Latter-day Saint scholar and teacher, yet this collection—edited by Robert A. Rees and Brent Rushforth—offers a personal glimpse into the man whose theological insights and generous spirit continue to shape those seeking to find space with intellectual questions surrounding their faith.

In Case You Missed It
We were honored to have Signature authors Laurie Lee Hall, Carol Lynn Pearson, and Cynthia Winward join our exhibitor table at the Gather Conference in late June. It was moving to have so many come by and share how these authors’ books have helped them or someone they know. We sold out of Dictates of Conscience and At Last She Said It. Pearson’s forthcoming book, The Diaries of Carol Lynn Pearson—Mormon Author, Feminist, and Activist: Volume 1, 1956–1990, is now available for preorder. This is the first of a four-volume series that showcases why Gather honored her as the first recipient of what will be its annual Carol Lynn Pearson Trailblazer Award for allyship and advocacy for the LGBTQ community.

Listen, Learn & Love podcast host Richard Ostler interviewed McArthur Krishna and Anne Pimentel about their new book, Changemakers: Women Who Boldly Built Zion. This empowering discussion emphasizes how women continue to make global change, often starting in their own backyard.
Susan Hinckley and Cynthia Winward spoke about their own popular podcast and new book, At Last She Said It: Honest Conversations About Faith, Church, and Everything in Between, on the All Out in the Open podcast.
