Formerly at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois, Jack Harrell teaches English and creative writing at Brigham Young University–Idaho. His writing has been compared to the quirky, sometimes disturbing realism of Flannery O’Connor. He is the author of A Sense of Order and Other Short Stories and has published other short stories in Dialogue, Irreantum, Manna, and elsewhere and nonfiction in Popular Music and Society (“The Poetics of Destruction: Death Metal Rock”). For this, his first novel, he received an Association for Mormon Letters Best Manuscript Award. He lives in Rexburg, Idaho, with his wife and family.
