Ye Elders of Israel

God Has Called Them to the BYU
(Sung to "God Be with You Till We Meet Again" [Old Hymn Book, 47] or
"God Be with You" [New Hymn Book, 152])

God has called them to the BYU
As professor of religion.
They don't tolerate derision.
They're accepted at the BYU.

[Chorus]
They are holy men.
They are holy.
They are holier than thou.
Do they know?
Do they know,
They're as holy as a sacred cow?

In their callings at the BYU,
Though by liberals they're surrounded,
They think they can't be confounded.
They're protected at the BYU.

[Chorus]

Though professor at the BYU,
They don't transmit information;
They just spark the sweet sensation
That their every anecdote is true.

[Chorus]

They are waiting at the BYU
To forsake Church Education
For a higher ordination
And to sit among a holier few.

[Chorus]

The Great I AM

Who's on the Lord's Side?
(Sung to "Who's on the Lord's Side?" [Old Hymn Book, 175; New Hymn Book, 260])

Who's on the Lord's side, who?
There is a way to tell.
We righteous don't wear beards,
We don't say "damn" or "hell."

We all wear three-piece suits.
We all avoid loud ties.
We speak in lowered tones
And have such lovely wives.

We're on the Lord's side, we.
The truth we must confess:
Just righteous men like us
Are blessed with such success.
